"If we all stop driving cars we can save millions every year"

"If we all stop being fat we can save millions every year"

on and on and on... utopian societies tend to destroy themselves because they're unattainable. Life is hard. Get a helmet.

'Utopian societies' reminds me of Logan's Run.

Kind of throws a monkey wrench in the whole de-population narrative, but I digress.

Admittedly, with no travel for week (IT consultant, traveled around the country nearly every week until March of last year) I have not been sick since February of last year.

That said, I rarely wear a mask. The only time I do is when I am on private property or at a business I can't avoid. Most of the big box retailers don't give a shit so I don't wear a mask.

Outside of family, most of my interaction with strangers has been greatly reduced, which I think does lend some credence to a reduction in illness during the flu season.

That said, is it the lack of face to face interaction with others worth it in the long run. For me, no. For others, maybe?

It's a slippery slope argument not dissimilar to speed limits on roads. If we just lowered the speed limit 5 MPH, we could save lives! Just another 5 MPH will save more lives!

Soon we will have a speed limit of 5 MPH and the nation would collapse.

On the covid front, if we just socially distance a while, we would reduce the number of transmissions!

Then its stay at home except for essentials. Then its stay at home and socially distance inside your own home and wear a mask!

What's the next step? Being locked in a room with a toilet and someone bringing you your meals?

Sounds more like prison to me.

For me yes, I hate people and crowds. Seeing far less of them this past year has been fantastic.

It's not the masking and the social distancing: it is the lack of travel.

We could also hole up in our houses 24/7. For some reason though normies can't stay away from Target.
