So, yesterday our illustrious (cough) Governor Greg Abbott said this: “It is now time to open Texas 100%”, and is lifting the mask mandates this coming Wednesday.

The question: Can asshats like Houston's Lina Hidalgo and Sylvester Turner keep the face mask orders in place, or does the Governor lifting of the mask mandates override cities?

Pretty sure cities can still have their own ordinances.

Another question: why does the TX order take effect March 10? Why not immediately?

Good question.

My understanding of his direction, is that it is not a mandate that every business or city is required to follow. If an individual business wants to continue to require masks, they still have that option. As far as individual Mayor's go, I am not sure on that.

The order should change and PROHIBIT any business from requiring it. If individuals want to wear masks that is their choice, but foisting that choice as a requirement on another individual is BS.

Speaking for my state--and maybe the rest of them---the governor gave power to the health dept to enact and police the restrictions on businesses etc.
Find out who is actually running the state and are they going to stop doing that.

Only local businesses can require their customers to do so.

The cities and counties cannot override the state. Abbot made that clear.
