For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. In Genisis we learn adam and eve sinned against God. In order to cover their sin, the penalty is death. So that He would not have to put them to mortal death, He slaughtered an animal to cover their nakedness (their sin). A blood sacrifice was payed so that adam and eve would not have to have their blood shed to atone. This is the first sacrifice. In Exodus, God required sacrifice of animals to atone for the sins of His people that they might be worthy to worship Him. The final sacrifice was that of Christ Jesus, the son of God, willingly giving himself over so that all would have their sins covered, that we might be allowed into His presence in eternity. "For God so loved the world that He gave his only son, so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but will have everlasting life." The blood required through mortal death was paid once and for all mankind, provided we admit our sins and believe, not only that Christ is the son of God, but that He died for our sins, and rose again, destroying the chains of death, and is alive still, waiting to bring us home, to the presence of God.
