These are people known as Altruists. Altruism believes that you need to put others before yourself. The masks doesn't just protect me, but it also protects others. That's great if you believe that, A true Altruist doesn't deem themselves worthy of themselves but they strive to appease others. In that, the best thing an Altruist can do is offer themselves up to cannibalism.
