I think it's to try and justify keeping the fence and NG at the Capitol even longer. As soon as they're about to pack up and go, another threat will magically be heard about. They'll justify the occupation of the Capitol as "safety" all while trying to get people used to the sight. Soon it will be commonplace. Then, they'll start trying to make states do the same.
