Got friends that build these tiny shits and sell them from 100k + and this is exactly what I think about it

Out of curiosity, how much in terms of material and labor these container houses cost?

10
fegeline 10 points ago +10 / -0

You can get a used 53ft container in good shape for about $2k, spend $8k to $16k on some paint, windows and IKEA furniture and your got a dream home for a leftist.

Knight1_of_Sunset 6 points ago +6 / -0

That little? Huh, I guess you could make a tidy living by suckering leftists into these container houses for high prices.

Although I don't think that such "houses" have robust plumbing, HVAC, insulation, or electrical systems, so the elements might be a problem...

Yep, you could even make a decent living. There's plenty of cash to be earned from ripping off lefties. Container houses, tents, soy beans, sometimes toilet paper. Just make sure you have plenty of a product once it goes trendy or once they start to hoard and you can overcharge them.

Such houses for the leftist market typically don't have any of the systems, at best you can install something cheap built for caravans to be used only during summer. Most commies will hook them up to the grid anyway, to stay 100% dependent on the government.

If I built one for myself I would probably make it modular with multiple containers, and even have one whole utility container with water tanks, boiler, ventilation, generator and everything needed to live comfortable off grid.

Retro fitting containers to live in is a much better option for the government than building trailers. The shipping container was built for the purpose of moving, so in a major disaster like Hurricanes or major firestorms/arson (West Cost), you can move a huge amount of living spaces very quickly using rail to the affected region.

When the emergency is over, clean the homes (jobs), and load them back up on rail and move them to the next crisis, or staging areas.

I don't think the measure of someone's house BTW is how big it is, but rather, how the owner keeps what they have. Nothing wrong with living small, and minimalist lifestyle, but just like any other choice it involves tradeoffs. Freedom is in the choice.

Bingo, but this of course assumes they actually wanted to provide basic places to live for people in need, after a disaster. In reality they seem more interested in just locking people up, which is why they build camps instead, with barbed wires on the inside preventing people from escaping.

Hangmhigh 1 point ago +1 / -0

The one pictured probably cost about 50k to build. Generally speaking there is a 100% markup on trailers.

fegeline 15 points ago +15 / -0

Now I see why they hate big pickup trucks. Can you imagine anything funnier than just hooking that up and then drive away, while the commies are sleeping inside.

Maybe park it in some really stupid place, like by the highway or in the ghetto of a nearby city. Then watch their reaction when they wake up.

RodAlanDickelman 4 points ago +4 / -0

Do you really think they would sleep through all that without being drugged or unconscious?

8
Knight1_of_Sunset 8 points ago +8 / -0

drugged or unconscious?

They are practically high on drugs half of the time.

3
White-tailed_Eagle 3 points ago +3 / -0

Does Soy count?

1
salvecitizen 1 point ago +1 / -0

And literally shaking the other half.

4
fegeline 4 points ago +4 / -0

Is there any commie that doesn't do drugs? Plus that they probably sleep with a mask, earplugs and a butt plug anyway, so there's no way they would notice.

Knight1_of_Sunset 10 points ago +10 / -0

Ugh, I can't imagine buying or living in a container "house", especially if it costs just as much as a regular house.

6
CertainlyNotEdward 6 points ago +6 / -0

They're drastically cheaper than regular houses in pretty much any city leftists congregate in.

Think of this more like a deluxe urban-friendly tent and it makes more sense.

White-tailed_Eagle 1 point ago +1 / -0

if people are only living in an area for a temp job, it makes sense them renting something like this than a larger house, the rent would be less.

Look on the bright side, now you can invite your friends over and listen to them take a dump with startling audio clarity!

tholins 5 points ago +5 / -0

My husband and I love watching idiots build these on those DIY Network shows.

A manufactured home has better insulation, plumbing, square footage, install timelines, can still be set up to be “off the grid”, and so on... a new manufactured single-wide home is superior in every respect to a tiny house. But oh no, white liberals can’t get past the stereotypes and opt for some non-functional bullshit.

2
Littleirishmaid 2 points ago +2 / -0

Plus, they have real toilets and showers.

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

I know some conservatives build them because there are no building codes or inspections to deal with, and no property tax on them, in some states. Before lumber went nuts, you could build these fairly cheaply, and live in them while paying off debt.

healthy2legs 4 points ago +4 / -0

Looks like a unit from one of those FEMA camps

2
MAGAlikethis [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

You could get all Leftists into a gas chamber by putting 'Low Carbon Footprint' on the door.

3
Gerbaski 3 points ago +3 / -0

"They're the same picture."

3
VanishedPants 3 points ago +3 / -0

I made a drinking game out of the channel living big in a tiny house. It is insane what people pay for these things. Kept telling my kids when we watched it, see that right there, see the price tag. Now let's look up what a 5th wheel RV or a modular home cost. They said they would never buy one of these tiny houses

Cuck sheds.

Little Pinko houses for you and me...

The funny thing is when I lived in North Carolina, there were a lot of black people that lived in those too. I remember one that was dressing it up by putting cinder blocks and bricks on the bottom so it would look less like a trailer.

We never judged anybody for it, we knew that some people are in a better position financially than others, and not all people that are poor opt for Section 8.

ABrainDisease 2 points ago +2 / -0

I tried explaining what a "tiny house" was to my uncle. He responded with "..so its a camper?" and I said "thats exactly right."

1
_spacemanspiff 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol I had never thought of this before

Not sure the hate these things get. Got the shell for mine off an Amish group, cost about 8k built to last and sturdy as a tank, came with a deck already built on to it finished out the inside over time. Cabin style. Ceiling we did in old rustic corrugated metal out of an old building uncle tore down some time before. Hard wood floors, put in separate wall with barn style sliding door going into bathroom, fully functional kitchen area, lofts on either side, computer setup in one, bed and such in other loft. Whole house is insulated better than anything most of you have by a wide margin, like the Men's Warehouse; I Guarantee It.

Wiring was easy enough too, outlets everywhere. Total build with a compost toilet because not paying stupid money to drop a septic, was around 16k-17k Wiring was easy enough to do too, long lasting LED lights for lower energy cost and ease. Built on edge of folks land. Strong family unit, we do beef cattle out here, pay a bit of lot rent but other than that all my shit is paid for and I just bank the money I do make, and do... fuck all whatever with it, just saving right now

Had that freeze in Texas recently, even with the power out most of the time, still retained heat pretty damn well, with the types of pipes we got running under the house, they don't burst or anything, barely even froze up, had to thaw out shower and bathroom sink pipes once is all. looking at building a small greenhouse next to it or a car port on the other side after taking the deck and adding on to it around the house.

Mine isn't on wheels or anything.. just a house, difference is just smaller than most people have, and all my shit is paid for entirely, no debt, no loans, all cash all paid. Can easily flip it for three times the money I put into it, likely more.

So really, most of you can go fuck yourself, you got no clue what you're talking about, just ragging on muh leftist tiny houses lol. I could quit my job tomorrow and not have to worry about a damn thing for a long time, just hang out, do some grilling and relax in the countryside waiting for the soy infused commies to make their move should they get the balls to roll out to country areas.

2
Littleirishmaid 2 points ago +2 / -0

Difference is you aren’t trying to be cool with yours. It’s the same as if you built an apartment above your parents garage. Only thing is, you can sell it.

In my state they can’t be put on another persons property. I know of someone who built her own with wheel. She had to live in campgrounds most of the year. When she parked it in her ex husbands land for the winter, they made her move it.

Traditional_Capitol 2 points ago +3 / -1

Also, why the hell do I have the recently joined handshake bullshit? I made this account a little after the jump from the old home. Don't post often, but browse here pretty much daily, just logged in like normal though it's been a good minute.

1
MAGAlikethis [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

You must be poor if you can't pay for a decent house out in the country.

3
Traditional_Capitol 3 points ago +3 / -0

Life hasn't been generally kind to me, no I'm not rolling in money. Made the best of things, the house is nice, very nice actually, just small. Built it mostly myself outside of the shell. Set myself up to where I wouldn't need that much money to live a good life. What, should I be ashamed I'm not raking in more money or live in a larger house?

2
Littleirishmaid 2 points ago +2 / -0

You’re are doing fine. We should all be as self sufficient as you are.

1
BillionsAndBillions 1 point ago +1 / -0

You sound like a role model to me. Living small and frugal, being self-sufficient, and saving money seems way better than being a wage slave with a $650k mortgage on a plastic McMansion 2ft from your neighbor's plastic McMansion in the suburbs of some leftist hellhole.

Hilarious!
