A lot of the hippy marxism, recreational drug usage and sexual degeneracy can be traced back to the hippie movement.

But what caused the hippie movement in the years following the stability of the post way period?

The stability itself? It contributed to it or at least enabled it. There's a tendency of youth to rebel, and in a propserous country they were able to rebel with little risk. Couple that with marxist infiltration and there you go.
