I just wanted to say I love y’all. Y’all are the ones I actually speak to in public because neither of us are wearing a mask. I only see you about once a week, but damn it sure does feel good when i do. You mean a lot to me, seeing your smiling face walking around a food lion, genuinely brings happiness to me. Sometimes I feel alone in my fight, even my family wears masks to “not piss people off” and I just thought someone should tell you, you are actually making a complete stranger joyful as fuck.

Today in the bank three people demanded I wear a mask, I gave them the general medical exemption runaround, and the “customer” standing at the teller next me said “medical exemption? I’ve never heard of that”. I said “yep I have a medical exemption” then the bank teller said “what is this medical exemption?” Then I honestly took it a little further than it needed to go but honestly idgaf if I make someone uncomfortable anymore, I’ve had it. Ik someone in that bank needed to hear someone stand up for themselves and refuse to wear a mask so I didn’t raise my voice in anger but said “are you really going to make me air out all my medical history in here just so I can prove I have a medical exemption? Is that what this bank requires now? Medical records? Really?” Loud enough so anyone within ten to 15 feet could hear it but not aggressive by any standards, I do really try to be on my best behavior at all times as to not look like a lune. I get out of the bank after the teller has finally submitted and I go to my car. On my way out a guy who was standing a couple people down from me exited at the same time he looks at me and said “does asthma count as an exemption?” I said “sure does man, really anything can be an exemption”. I’ve never seen a man literally break his chains in front of me. He ripped his mask off and said “I’m gonna see if this works in the gas station” I could tell this guy had just made a turning point in mask wearing, I looked at him and said “my medical exemption is that I’m healthy and don’t have the virus” I could tell this took him back a little bit, But still, one less masker in NC and that gotta be at least ten that I’ve inspired. It’s not much but I’m honestly doing everything I can to get rid of this bullshit “new normal”. And I just wanted to say thank you to those who don’t wear them and to those that do, break your chains, remove your muzzle, breath freely, as a free man and don’t let anyone shame you for it.
