Because he is a coward, hates this country and was bought off by the uniparty. Probably all three.

The VP doesn't have the power to do this unilaterally according to the EC Act of 1887. It has to go to a vote in both Houses and pass with a majority to discount any electors.

If Pence could just throw out any electors he didn't like, wouldn't Al Gore have done this in 2000 as the sitting VP with only a 5 electoral vote difference between him and Bush?

He could've tossed 6 of the FL electors for Bush and counted them for Gore instead and he would've won.

Who says he even has the authority to do this?

it has to go to a vote in both Houses and pass with a majority to discount any electors.

He has to SEND IT THERE THEN.

He didn't.

He should've done something, anything at the last hurdle. Who cares if it's unconstitutional; if it is, then it'd FORCE the SCOTUS's involvement.

That's what courage IS.

Stop trying to defend Pence. He deserves every bit of this, white feather fuck.

dude that is so disingenuous.

He said "who cares if it's unconstitutional" and explained this would force the supreme court to look into it.

That is very different from your false quote of "Who cares about the constitution??"

And then you even said "lets not turn into the left" right when you FALSELY quote him.

It's ok Mike. You'll get used to everyone hating you, just ask Pierre Delecto.

I agree that he couldn't discount them, but I have to wonder about accepting the alternate electors that the states sent. I'm not a constitutional lawyer, but I suspect there exists some process or rules for when this happens. Do you accept the electors sent by state congress or by an individual in the executive?

He swore an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, and he didn't do it. The federal constitution states that the electors must be chosen by the states' legislatures, not the states' governors. He should have rejected the illegitimate (non-constitutional) electors, and upheld the oath of his office by only recognizing the constitutionally viable electors sent by the state legislators, which would have given Trump a 31-19 victory of the 50 votes. All three branches of government screwed our country. They can go to the Devil.
