Higher education is where a lot of the brainwashing is done. I also work in a field of stupid smart people and I went to one of the highly regarded propaganda centers. We're lucky to have kept our common sense, because their tactics are very effective.
The other issue I perceive is that people who strive for good paying jobs care a lot about social status. We can't discount how much of this woke culture is about that.
Tossing away friends who support this tyranny is very liberating. Give it a try with some of the more obnoxious ones and see how it feels.
