Almost. On a mean average trend, we're in lower solar output, which causes weakened EM field. The sun is just recently starting its last max cycle before Grand Min, tho.

I know. I’ve been watching.

It is widely discussed that at the end of grand solar minimum sunspot activity could produce something similar to the 1859 carrington event.

If a CME of that size were to happen in today’s world it could be 6 months to a decade to get electricity back up.

all of a sudden it makes sense why our politicians want transformers from china. you know, because we totally can't make enough transformers here and there's a really great reason why we don't have extra transformers built! we're running on the raggedy edge of the whole electric grid going down for shits and giggles.
