Not to mention, they’re not concerned about the future. Mitch and Nancy are power hungry demons. They have no concern that their actions may negatively affect the country for future generations, they won’t be alive. They don’t care. They live for themselves and they live for today only. Nancy has her ice cream and Mitch has a happy Chinese wife and that’s how they base their decisions. If the country burns, they got theirs and they won’t suffer the consequences.
