I go to one of the corporate chain dollar stores yesterday. Looking around and actually come to a section of new books, which I've never seen at this type of store before. Peruse the books, every single one is either written by a Hollywood Lefty or Celebrity, autobiographies, cook books, etc. Every book is a new book just published. Then I see this little green book with a sci fi cover. Turns out it is sci fi/fantasy fiction, a book I've never heard of. Buy it. Take it home and find out it was written all the way back in 1973. It's written by an Anarchist and self proclaimed feminist male author and a huge part of the book is based in CHINA where the English adventurer is befriended by a Chinese man and is "educated" about the Opium Wars and how terrible the British and Europeans are for their commercial exploits in China before the Communist takeover. Okay? Now what the hell would a book like this from 1973 be doing for sale in one of our dollar stores? There is literally no context or reason for that 50 plus year old pro-China, anti-Western book to be plopped in the middle of all those contemporary fluff books other than propaganda purposes.
