I use facebook, only because some people refuse to use anything else. (if they don't want to even try to use what I am using now, I will soon loose contact with them)
I recently downloaded all my data from it. You would not believe the kinds of data they had on me.. Not even stuff I entered, but tracked around the web and information that other people gave... it was nuts. Just because you never even signed up for them, doesn't mean that they are not tracking you.
The guy in the video has a complete course on privacy, on his channel. Along with some other great information.
YES! Sadly Facefuk is the only platform I can keep in touch with family. I've never used it for any other reason or entered any real personal data on it. But I DO want to download all my chit. Was it readable? Or does it just download a bunch of code?
You have two options, one as html and the other is json.
Pick the html version.
It stores everything in different folders, some of it would be misc code, but the html pages will be like facebook-esk and readable. It will also download any photos or videos that you have ever uploaded. but it will not download post from other users that were on your timeline. Some information will require a little digging around in the folders that facebook makes. (You download everything as just one big zip file.)
I am trying to get all my friends and family over to MeWe. But remember (if you watched the privacy course that I posted on here, any social site that is going bankrupt, will probably start to sell user data). But MeWe does have a clear business model to make money without ads. So they really only have their ISPs that have any influence over them. I posted all kinds of pepe stuff on there already, and there are no "goes against" whatever like facebook does.
