Labelling then is used in a self-fulfilling, roundabout turn of logic, to allow them to "treat" or "deal with" people with that label.

How do you know homosexuality is a mental illness? Is it possible that something that is right for you may not be right for someone else. I do not view not wanting to procreate as a mental illness, I view it as necessary for some people. As a result I do not see why anyone should be bound by straightness.
