People who happen to have a need for authority or power are attracted to that profession. Specifically because it allows them to get their fix on the daily and police unions protect them because they're obedient. I've never had run ins with the cops, but out of the handful I've dealt with at least 50% of them were douche bags. This is just my personal experience.

Having served in the military, and commenting on this in other posts, IMO this is nothing more than a case of bad leadership from the NG. Food providers certainly have service contracts that must be upheld, and FDA law. This is lawsuit material, and revocation of license material. No way these can pass. There has to be action on this. Charitable people will come in and start donating good food. The military then will deflect even more funding away from food and tell both sides to keep up the great 'patriotism' of feeding and living off handouts.
In the end, the people will pay twice to feed the troops that are supposed to protect them. Once as a line item on the budget and again to actually buy food and donate it to them.
