Having served in the military, and commenting on this in other posts, IMO this is nothing more than a case of bad leadership from the NG. If the chow is bad, bad leadership won't care and will put you into formations and then line you up to eat it (I've experienced this first hand). The fact that the bad food situation has gone public underscores my position that the officers in charge didn't fix the problem and let it blow up in their faces.
