I had been asking my employer for the ability to work remotely for years. They always punted on it. The lockdowns finally forced it. It is a silver lining. I've been able to spend the last year working from home, collecting a paycheck, and spending more time with my children than ever before. I wish it didn't take all of the other covid soul destroying bullshit to achieve however.
Wait for a day where the office would normally be closed for weather and the kids are home but you still gotta work. We had a few snow days recently with online school AND work from home. It was rough.
I also admit it was a bit of a blessing to have that option last year and especially the extra family time, but every company will for sure use it to their advantage.
Well, I have to confess I absolutely don't miss my cubicle.
