Both docs approached the project from different angles, but both ended up telling the same story and same conclusion. What stood out to me was that in both docs, one about Europe and one about the US, it exposed the same scam. That people are getting rich on selling the American(western) dream to people who dont know any better. They're told that if they make it to these western countries, then all of life's hardships will be over. That the trip would be easy. These people are duped out of tens of thousands of US dollars to get taken on a ride. These arent poor people. No, theyre stuck in their shithole because they cant come up with the funds. The ones making the trip are relatively well off in their home country.
But then reality comes at them fast. The journey is dangerous and filled with horror. Some dont make it. Women and young girls get raped. The ones that do make dont get the life they were promised. They live in poverty and regret making the decision to come over. And the local pop also suffers. Just bad shit all around. The only ones that benefit are the coyotes and the ones leading the illegal immigration ring.
