He's not the poster boy for Christianity. He's the poster boy for Romanism. It has very little to do with Jesus Christ. This particular pope is just a dopey Marxist, but many previous popes have been outright evil - more debauched than any Emperor or pre-Constantinian Rome. The RCC is about amassing wealth and power, little else. The very notion of a pope is unbiblical.

Personally, being a follower of Christ, I've always thought the Roman Catholic Church to be a fan-fiction version of Christianity. They're certainly allowed their own take on things, just like any other organization. I'm not going to argue their validity other than to say that I don't think they are.

They actually prevent people from being saved, that's the terrible irony.

If you cant beat them join them, thats what happened when the romans couldn’t eradicate Christianity, though they tried. And that is how Catholicism was born.

"Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I shall build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Are you delusional enough to think Christians were wrong for 1500 years before some debauched madman by the name of Martin Luther showed up and told us what Christ really wanted? The Catholic Church as an organization is fallible, the Catholic Church as an institution is infallible and is Christ's one true Church.

I know, I know the script - I was brought up Catholic. But that is a complete distortion, meant to serve the RCC's own power lust. There is no 'Apostolic Succession'. The Rock, as agreed upon by a majority of church fathers is the confession that Jesus is Lord and His grace is salvation. The 'small rock' refers to the members of that church foundation. Jesus Christ was not 'passing powers' to the apostles. And Peter was never sent to Rome, and there is no proof his bones were taken there either. Rome is not Christ's Holy City, Jerusalem is.
