Good article. I'm trying to use Amazon less and less, but a lot of products I buy I can't get locally, because they destroyed the small companies I used to shop at. God damn it, why do I have to research ethics when I just want to buy socks?

Especially now that Fry's shut down. I used to get all my computer/electronics there. There's nothing in my area that sells that stuff in a brick and mortar store.

But yeah. This article is forcing me to address this.

Yeah, there were a few good ideas in there. Glad you liked it.

Aside from the what seemed like a sudden tsunami of bad Chinese knock-off goods (the same piece of junk, the same photos, but with different fake company names) cluttering the top search results, the increasingly crappy performance of Prime shipping over the past 12 months really helped wean me from it.

I still miss the ability to make a dumb single item order though. I had grown really fond of the ability to order some random staple be it a pack of pens or a bottle of aspirin and have it show up a day later and not have to go into a store. LOL. But other online sellers have caught up and surpassed Amazon Prime's shipping performance.
