I'm 58, stopped going to the movies when I was 25, stopped watching TV around 1999, stopped listening to talk radio 2008. If you want a clear mind free from relentless propagandizing and lies, you have to turn away from those sources.

Roadpower --- how did you start, cold turkey or piecemeal. I think I could make it without the tv, i've lost interest in sports, but I like to binge watch shows like Game of Thrones. Since Covid, I've become addicted to conservative sites like TDW so I don't know if I have exchanged one vice or another. Personally, I just can't let this fraud go, ever.

I had Netflix until it was too obvious that I would be feeding the beast if I kept the account, a big clue was when they stopped allowing for reviews. But to otherwise answer your question, cold turkey. In fact any time I overhear the TV or radio it usually quickly becomes infuriating for the demonic lies that they are pushing. And I'm not even religious, it just that their lies are so incredibly caustic and destructive that there is no good way to describe them other than just outright evil.

As for sports I realized at a young age that corporate sports were not for me. They aren't my people, they aren't my community, they are not doing anything at all positive for our society. So it wasn't difficult to shun them.

I do have Amazon Prime but I'm not happy about it and I can't easily get rid of that as I have a mother to care for that I can't take out of the house shopping in this current COVID political climate. At least with Amazon Prime you can still leave reviews on the shows they platform.

Good point about the reviews. The only thing I read on Yahoo was the reviews. It actually led me to TDW. I stopped when they stopped. Currently, I am television free. I walk my dog when my wife watches the 10pm news and then I watch an episode of Seinfeld. I've checked out of sports. Once I return to work I will be to busy for television. Right now this is where I sit most of the time and I've become really informed through conservative sites and I see the disparity of understanding of the truth and it boggles the mind because some of the people I viewed as smart are really dumb or have some vested interest in change. I think I can do it. Thanks

Welcome but just one word of caution. Don't get trapped in echo chambers, they aren't healthy either. Jonathan Haidt has done studies and found that left leaning people shun anything contrary to their sensibilities while right leaning people generally explore outside of their world view which is one of the reasons why right leaning people generally have a much better understanding of their left leaning counter-parts than the left leaning people do of their counter parts.

You can find videos of Haidt talking about this.

Thanks again I will look him up and I do feel like I've become a little too obsessed with it all and I'm looking forward to returning to work but I'm concerned on what the world of work will look like and how woke we have become and who to trust and who to remain quiet from. Friends before may not be friends now and it will take a while to see what is up and when to speak up.

Good points and I can see how easy it is to fall off the cliff and sometimes I get so engaged with other people who have the same beliefs but are not that invested in it that I catch myself before I look crazed or I just become a buzz killer.

Welcome, maintaining balance in an insane world isn't easy but it is the burden we're stuck with for now. And hopefully people like yourself will be ready to be the positive change that we all need.

Interesting take, but she from Australia talking about taking control of your life when I understand the Auzzies are being locked down worse than anything in California. Get control of your own life and then worry about the world.
