I was sitting in the car in a walmart parking lot today watching the democrats and republicans walking around. Masks & then maskless faces smiling at me. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²

It's worth remembering that "science" was telling people that masks made of cheesecloth were 99% effective.

Also, the flu is still technically pandemic. The hysteria is what ended.

It was shortly apparent that the masks had not had any effect against the spread of the Spanish flu, and as the years progressed, closer study showed that the masks had actually made the situation worse.

For the next 100 years, masking β€” especially widespread mask mandates β€” were relegated to the dustbin of history in favor of science and progress that used evidence instead of blind hope to achieve real improvements in infection control. Further study even began to call into question the value of wearing masks in settings it had been assumed that they simply must help, such as in hospitals.

And then, in a media-induced hysteria that was pushed for political advantage, all that science was tossed aside β€” along with common sense, commitment to American values, longstanding principles of body autonomy, and respect for the dignity of personal choice.

Possibly Kansas. It was called the Spanish flu because Spain was neutral during World War I. So their press was less unfettered and they reported what was going on more accurately.

Unfortunately when that flu was its most virulent, in America, we were holding huge war bond parades and we got bit in the pants.
