Wegmans gives their store managers a lot of authority, so I wouldn't be surprised if some are not as lax.
However, we haven't encountered enforcement here. Yes, their signs are posted, to hey have free masks at CS if you want one, and a few stores have had paper cops hanging around the entrance (and doing nothing about the unmasked shoppers lol), but that's it.
Shoppers will probably get more flak from other shoppers. Just keep moving and do your shopping.
A funny example: Last spring, when I was wearing a mask, I heard a "to-do" as I approached checkout at Wegmans, and a tiny woman who looked like Dr. Ruth was screaming at a young kid behind her in line for having his mask hanging under his chin, and got right in his face. The poor guy was just leaning on his cart and ignored her.
Well....a Wegmans manager pulled her out of line, and appeared to be speaking very nicely to her, but let the "offender" proceed through the line.
That's when I saw that Wegmans wasn't going to alienate their customers by assuming the role of mask police, especially when shoppers maintain the magical 6 feet of distance.
Plus, nothing says you think this is a killer virus like approaching maskless shoppers, and stopping them to argue. Yeesh.
I have found that the masked sheep who get mad at the maskless are really just angry that someone has the balls to not do as they are told. They HATE that you flout the so called rules. It just proves what weak people the masked sheep really are.
Is this happening in all Wegmans?
