On my own spiritual journey, I had talks with a friend who I respect that is a committed member of a Calvary church (no horses Democrats). He described Cavalry to me as a belief in the literal interpretation of the Bible.
I can't go there. I'm aware of how many re-writes the Good Book has undergone and don't get me started on the Council of Nicaea.
But I believe in God and all of the morality taught by the Bible. I just don't buy the stories as being factual. The stories were man's creation, the morality is God's.
Yea it's tough. There's a middle ground between the parable/actual fact debate that can be extremely hard to find and it's not any easier getting every side of the many arguments. All I know is I believe in Jesus Christ and follow the words he spoke as best I can and ask forgiveness when I feel I'm wrong. I think that's good enough.
All in all, enough blood has been shed over interpretations of the bible and it's best to set that aside whenever possible.
That's well said and I agree.
