The illustration in question was a product of its time. It’s an exercise in futility to find anyone prominent before 1945 who would not be considered a horrible person by today’s standards

The other issue is that the outrage was not actually from a person of Asian decent. It was from white liberals who projected the book as being offensive. The reality is liberals saying this book is offensive to Asians, is what should really be offensive to Asians. It is the liberals who stereotype and have the attitude that we are smarter than you and know what you should be offended by.
