How sad for this mother. The school is to blame for pushing him from grade to grade without giving him a foundation on which to build. You can hear her anguish the he feels like a failure.

Build a house without a solid foundation, and you will have huge problems down the road.

There is not systemic racism in America—there is systemic failure by the Education system to give children a foundation on which to build and it is happening primarily in Black neighborhoods run by Democrats. It has nothing to do with white privilege.

Idk how is the School fault that he didn’t show up or was late 272 days

The school's fault for passing him. He should never have been allowed to move up to the next grade if he had not mastered the skills required to do so.

It is what we see in the justice system today--not holding people accountable in the present helps no one in the future.

Unfortunately, and I don’t know if this is the case in Baltimore, but a lot of schools aren’t allowed to fail a black student. That is, to give a black student a failing grade. They’re either directly mandated or financially incentivized to keep moving them through the grades, cook the books to show passing grades, etc.

Besides, this kid wasn’t failed by high school. Odds are damn good this has been his entire experience with public school. It’s essentially free babysitting.

Which is basically what the Board of Education that was fired in CA said--free babysitting but therein lies the problem. What teachers perceive their responsibilities to be. No wonder everything is broken. It is trying to excuse bad behavior.

I have a friend whose sister is a teacher here where I live, and they have an "unspoken policy" of just letting black kids advance to the next grade because they tend to be the ones that cause the most trouble and the school just wants to be rid of them.

When they notice a black kid that actually has potential, they'll go out of their way to help them realize it, because it may be the only chance that kid gets. No one else, not even the parents, really cares.

I don’t blame the school per say.

Who would want to deal with inner city parents going apeshit on a daily basis.

Blame the Unions for creating a structure that cow tows to this shit which creates an environment allowing parents to go apeshit over this type of thing.

I skipped, faked sick, called in as my dad to say that "my son" was sick, but I never missed more than maybe a few days ever now and then. Missing 272 days is INSANE. If he was legitimately sick, then there should be doctors notes, hospital bills, and full justification for him missing that time. If it's just a "Oh, little Tyriquenashandemarcusoneffersonantayawakandaistotallyreal French didn't come today because he wanted to stay home and play Madden or NBA, sorry, dude, ya gots to go back. The mom should have instilled the importance of education on him. But hearing her talk, I can tell she wasn't much of a student either. "DO HE NOT GET A CHANCE?" No. He dudnt

How sad for this mother.

She's at fault here too. Apples never fall far from the tree. And her, shall we say tenuous grasp of English makes it clear that she is a large part of the problem.

There is no such thing as generational poverty. Only generational stupidity.

Oh, and never capitalize black, unless it's at the beginning of the sentence. It is not a proper noun. The mere fact that you did that put me very close to reporting you as a shill.

My best friend is black and he is one of the most well spoken and educated people I've ever met. He went to school in the city and realized at a young age that he wasn't getting a good education, so he started going to the library and teaching himself. The Knowledge Bug bit him and he quickly became the top student in his class and it stayed that way through his entire education. Now he has a lovely family and he is passing on the importance of education and speech to his children. If he hears them speak incorrectly, it's an immediate correction and they have to repeat the sentence with proper English. Also, he's doing everything he can to teach his kids that police are there for good, to help. It's a beautiful thing and far more parents should do this, all colors and backgrounds.

Much of behavior is learned behavior and believe me, I do not think was are doing anyone a favor with the garbage coming out of the left about White privilege or systemic racism.

I believe the biggest harm done to Blacks by the left is not holding them accountable--implicit is Blacks are not capable of performing which is not true--people tend to live up to expectations.

There is systemic institutional racism in America, but most of these systems and institutions are controlled by the left. The racism comes in the form of low standards and expectations of POC.

Black students don't do well in school? Inflate grades.

Black graduation rates too low? Change the standards and pass them anyway.

Black attendance at colleges is too low? Affirmative action so requirements are lower.

Black students not performing as well in college? Adjust the grading and expectations.

Not enough black applicants for a position? Hire firms to seek out possible hires.

Blacks underrepresented in the workplace? Make diversity hiring practices and quotas standard practice.

Not enough black owned businesses? Promote them and give them favored status.

All of this assumes that black children are less capable than their white or asian counterparts. THAT'S the systemic racism.

The problem is that the left is teaching to the test. They want to change the statistics without changing the underlying reality of what's causing those disparities. It's easier to make the numbers change without fixing any actual problems.

You are right.

When they combined the school systems when they did away with segregation, they lowered the standards across the board and have just keep playing with grades and standards ever since.

If anything, they have now extended special treatment to all areas of life in the US. We now have a systemic 2 tier system of government. They understand that they cannot keep using the same argument so have changed equality to equity.

Until it is stopped, Democrats will keep looking for ways of dividing the country.

The school is not blameless, but the mom is the main one who should take responsibility here.

Fuck the mother. It's her responsibility to raise her child and to make sure he's doing what he's supposed to be doing.

Also the school reached out to her but she's lying and saying they never did.
