She isn't wrong, but she is also to blame. It's inexcusable that the school promoted him when he was failing. It's also inexcusable that a mother didn't look at his grades & see the failure, nor did she make sure he attended school. She failed her child.

Assume she is a product of the failing government school system and I might cut her some slack. Her education is subpar also. She has the mentality that someone else (government) should parent her child.

What a mess. You know he will drop out and never amount to anything.

Right? The school is to blame for moving him up grades but not at fault for his ridiculously poor performance?

Her focus is entirely on him getting out of school and not on any education he received.

She is to blame even more than the school. She obviously put no effort into caring about how her child was doing in school. And by 9th grade, that kid knew exactly what he was doing to his education future with getting those grades and then skipping out on almost TWO yrs worth of school.

The school IS shitty, but if either the parent of child gave a damn about self responsibility, they wouldn't be in this situation.

I'm sure he'll earn a lengthy rap sheet.
