Guy was told he had cancer, it metastasized, and he had months to live. A couple months later he died. Autopsy showed he only had a small benign tumor, not metastasized.
Kid swallowed his whole bottle of antidepressants. Doctors had to give him 6 liters of water to keep his blood pressure up, he was on the verge of death. Until his prescribing doctor was contacted and told them he was part of a drug trial and he was on a placebo. Kid had taken sugar pills.

I heard of a story where a man who was dying took what he was convinced was a miracle cure and his tumors actually shrank for a few months, even though it was a scam. The mind/body connection is a funny thing.
doctor refuses to be examined himself for his entire career..
at the age of like 55 or so.. the others pressure him to do it.
they find a lump in his lungs.
tell him he has six months to live.
he dies six months later.
they check his medical records at death, find at the time he became a doctor they had examined him and found the exact same thing in his lungs.. but decided since it was a death sentence not to tell him.
