The different translations of that are interesting.

Different translations for the referenced passage

The reference to sex/bed seems to be to deny it or sleep in different beds not that it’s a free for all.

Apparently it’s ok to hit them though.

Christian passages which aren’t “PC” these days:

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:22-24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭14:33-35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I really appreciate you considering both sides here. Yes, I do believe the Bible also says some negative things about women. I don’t recall any verses that specifically call for beating people, but I don’t know for sure.

Using religion as an excuse for bad actions doesn’t explain why this one is so much worse than all the others.

Just last month, there were more than 150 attacks killing almost 700 people.

This is not abnormal. There is an attack basically every single day.

Something is different about this certain belief system.

True, most Muslims are not terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslim. If Islam is a religion of peace, why is it the only one that consistently produces religiously-motivated terrorist attacks each and every day of the year?

Judges 19 in the Old Testament is the first one that comes to mind. Christians don’t teach it but it’s one of those inherited things that’s swept under the rug. I’m selectively quoting here but you’ll get the gist of what’s going on.

“As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, worthless fellows, surrounded the house, beating on the door. And they said to the old man, the master of the house, “Bring out the man who came into your house, that we may know him.” ‭‭Judges‬ ‭19:22 ESV‬‬

”Behold, here are my virgin daughter and his concubine. Let me bring them out now. Violate them and do with them what seems good to you, but against this man do not do this outrageous thing.” ‭‭Judges‬ ‭19:24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“But the men would not listen to him. So the man seized his concubine and made her go out to them. And they knew her and abused her all night until the morning. And as the dawn began to break, they let her go.” ‭‭Judges‬ ‭19:25‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“And when he entered his house, he took a knife, and taking hold of his concubine he divided her, limb by limb, into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout all the territory of Israel.” ‭‭Judges‬ ‭19:29‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Thanks for the quotes. I agree the Bible can have some violent stuff in it.

You kinda just glazed over the second part though. Why don’t we see daily attacks from Christians?
