It's funny that Dr Suess was considered progressive during his lifetime. The goal posts have moved so far that his legacy went from left wing to right wing posthumously. You will never be safe embracing liberal ideology. It will turn against you eventually.

There is no line with the left. Their ideology is to always be 'progressing' for the sake of progressing. Any time they say 'all we want' it is a lie, because that will just be the new line to cross.

I always liked CS Lewis's thinking about progress. I don't remember it word for word so I will paraphrase it here: Suppose you are doing sums and you make a mistake in your adding. No substantive progress will then be made without going back and righting the mistake.

In short, progress that is not based in reality and truth is not real progress but wheel spinning at best and self destructive at worst.

Something else of his that I quote often is: "I have no patience for people who prefer Thursday simply because it is not Wednesday."

Just like with us modern ‘conservatives’ though, we are literally conserving things that were considered leftist like 20 years ago

Not me brother. If I was suddenly transported to 1053, I would be happy.

They're nihilists, dude.

Correct -- and the only thing that can satisfy nihilism is death. Everyone's death.

I'd like to opt out of that scenario.

I used to live in a world where the goal posts did change chasing the betterment of humanity while leaving history intact as a learning tool. The world I live in now attempts to change the goal posts chasing the betterment of humanity while doing all the things that are wrong with the world it's trying to change.

Honk honk!

I know.

Dr. Seuss had multiple political cartoons that went after the "America First" ideology.

I don’t recall Seuss being progressive, but then again I was born in 94 so I was a kid when they read me the books. What was considered progressive about it? His inclusivity?

I don't know if it was so much reflected in his work but he was a liberal. I believe he was even pro abortion, which is crazy for a children's book writer. Crazy for anyone really though...
