It's like Jesus dining with tax collectors...But we know that wouldn't happen...

I have no problem with this. He is reaching people who he otherwise would not. Jesus hung out with some rather unsavory types at times.

“Instead of having people come to us, we will go and meet people where they’re at in their messiness, in their heartache, in their celebrations and around the dinner table,” Varcoe said.

I actually kind like this approach. They're going out into the community, they're reaching people they wouldn't otherwise reach and showing the flag. I think this may be a necessary step to continue the new Great Awakening.

The two places where liberty minded ideals have always spread in America have been in Churches and Taverns.

Well there's two things that happen a LOT in the bible. Whine drinking, and shit that's hard to believe. Hmmmmm.

I remember reading a Pastor somewhere put up a stripper pole and removed his tie as he declared his Church a strip club so it could open. So, it's been done already!!!

I mean techniaclly the space is a restaurant so they can gather wheras church gatherings are banned... It's in SD so I can't see that as a major reason though.

My issue is the whole "well they said if they could have a beer with their service..."

Yes, Jesus didn't hang out with perfect people. At same time, the church overall keeps lowering their standards (how many hang pride flags now and even have gay/bi/trans pastors?) in order to increase membership (aka donations). So, is it really about the coffers or the message?

And our churches are opened here. If people are afraid to meet in their churches bc of covid, we'll, the bars & restaurants here are much more crowded and we go maskless here in them.

You assume Christians have any idea what is in a book they have never read.
