One of the things I noticed during a lengthy stay in China was that many tourists found it preferable to shit in an adult diaper, than to ever step foot into the public restrooms there. I never had to use one but damn sure could smell them halfway down the block.
i think they wear a mask there for the smell and not the virus. If they can't keep a clean toilet, do you actually expect them to keep anything else sanitary? don't shake their hands or eat - yuck!
