We call it "little-sanfrancisco". While the city has a huge population of liberals,, the rest of his district has rural conservatives. Yesterday, in WNC, the news headlines were all about this ultra-liberal gay woman that announced her candidacy against him. So, he's going to be a RINO because he wants the rural conservative vote to stick with him but he has to be very careful not to mobilize the independents and middle-left in the Asheville suburbs against him. So this, unfortunately, is going to be his long-term play, unless he fucks up and loses to this money-backed liberal Democrat that is already gunning for him.
