Part of the problem was that Trump wasn't clear on what he wanted us to do, one way or another. I think everyone was/is ready to fight if called upon, but no one wanted to start fighting and end up being a crazed lone gunman, you know?

It is pretty clear what January 6 was about. The purpose of going to DC was not to storm in and violently take the chamber if they refused to acknowledge the fraud and certified Biden instead. The purpose was to peacefully show all of the Democrats and RINOs how many actual Trump supporters (not GOP voters) were there at President Trump's request, and BLM and Antifa aren't the only major force out there to be afraid of. The show of support was supposed to be what convinced Republicans to step up and challenge the certification.

Unfortunately, a few people, probably a mix of Antifa dressed in Trump gear and a few legitimate Trump supporters that followed them in, entered the building and made a show that resulted in the MSM practically creaming their pants, and the actions gave a lot of the Republicans that were prepared to fight an excuse to abandon their goal of challenging the certification.

Absolutely nothing good came out of January 6 outside of showing the media's obvious bias since BLM riots are "mostly peaceful" despite causing billions in damage and causing a lot of deaths, but January 6 is "worse than 9/11." It also gave social media the excuse they were waiting for to ban President Trump permanently. We're probably going to be hearing about January 6 from the Democrats until children born that day are old enough to vote.
