Why would you pay big money to live in town? Only buying a home in the country makes sense to me.

They start out being NOT in town, then you're never asked when shit gets built right next to you

You are right that is a real problem caused by realestate crooks and high rollers.

Your new country house ,make sure you have natural gas, a generator, a water well and a machine gun with plenty ammo.

The return on investment. Reselling a house in town nets a lot more money versus one in the country.

Not buying a house to resell. Building to live in.

Always build or buy a house outside the reach of city control. More expensive but worth it. City housing is cheaper because no one wants to be in city.

Convenience. Many move out of town (city) when they get closer to retirement. Living in the country doesn't work with a family, having to meet clients. Spend a lot of wasted time and money driving. A lot of actors and entertainment folks have pads in NY and LA for work but their real home is in some country town like Robert Dinero or the guy from Big Bang theory Leonard...meh.

To save myself 10 hours of driving each week that I don't get paid for and to not pile on 45,000 miles on both my vehicle and my wife's vehicle (this saves 10's of thousands). And I save enough on gas/diesel to paid for my real estate taxes each year.

Living far out of town will cost you big time financially in the end.
