Is there anything we can do to stop H.R.1 from passing in the Senate??? I am feeling quite demoralized regarding this! How can we fight back if this is allowed? Help!
There is also a chance that Joe Manchin will vote against HR 1 because while a moderate Dem/independent, he pretty much counts as a DINO because he doesn't support all of the Democrats' radical bullshit
"The legislation now heads to the Senate where it has a tough road for passage as the chamber is split 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans. The legislation would require 60 votes to advance and needs GOP support. "
yeah, i think Kamala was tiebreaker in the 1.9 trillion dollar stimulus package? what happens when discussion starts in the Senate?
also, I try to wrap my head around why Manchin has a very strong opinion on retaining the filibuster (there's an article i can find confirming this -- i was super happy). I think he knows the filibuster being retained benefits conservatives & stops radical Dem policies from going through.
And yes, the schools are utter shit now if we no longer know basics to U.S. and how it functions. I used to think in high school that Donald Trump couldn't run because he wasn't a "boring guy in a business suit" (I was never a radical, just a moderate Democrat at the time).
I don't understand how our population is so fucking low IQ that they don't understand the BASIC CONCEPTS of how our Government works.
In order for HR1 to pass, it needs to overcome the filibuster. That means 60 senators need to agree to pass to it for it to become law. There are only 50 democrat Senators. That means they need to convince 10 Republican Senators to agree to the bill. Considering not a SINGLE REPUBLICAN voted for it in the house, it's safe to say not a single one will vote for it in the Senate.
Please understand how government works and you won't have to worry.

This.
The dooming and chicken little over a bill that has been shot down in various versions over a decade is insane.
HR 1 has been and will continue to be dead in the water.

What do you mean not the only one to rely on? luckily? He was the only Dem who opposed Neera's confirmation btw
What about the bill where Kamala was the tiebreaker vote? Did that pass or is it being drafted again?

They pretty much just confirmed what you said. There's no way any Republican will vote for this if all of them know it's a Dem power grab attempt

Secede, have states and local areas refuse to comply, MAGA rallies, and emergency speech from President Trump
I still emailed every republican saying I didn't support it.
