I imagine Jesus is embarassed to be associated with a group of people who were too selfish and lazy to fight the evil that has taken over our country.

I stopped going to church when my pastor said God would handle it when men were being allowed into little girls restrooms.

Yes it is shameful and any pastor who says it is ok to support the sodomites is a disgrace to our faith. Luckily real Christians reject utterly the Joel Osteen's of this world. LGBTQ yada yada is demonic and has no place in our faith. Ditto women pastors (totally preposterous idea)

This is not about theology. This is about pastors teaching Gods people that they dont have to fight evil.

Whether its Joel Osteen, a southern baptist preacher, or a catholic priest, doesn't matter. They are ALL guilty of leading their people off the cliff with their "me" centric teaching. One tells everyone to believe in themselves, the other tells everyone to hate themselves. Its all the same, it about me not God.

They all teach that we should stay out of the political realm. In doing so we allow evil to flourish. Evil doesnt stay confined to politics and to ignore it just because its rooted in the political system is just plain ignorance.

Find a new church. I mean, God will handle all of it in the end because the real problem is sin and God promised us that it will be taken care of when he get's back, but until then our job is to stand up and spread the gospel and plant the seeds of faith all over the world that God can grow. Your pastor wasn't wrong, but he was cowardly. It is our duty as followers of Christ to speak the truth even if it gets us canceled. If Paul could get stoned multiple times and get up after and keep telling people the truth of Jesus, we can risk a bunch of soy boys in skinny jeans calling us mean names on the internet and getting us banned from everything. We don't have to deal with any level of persecution that Christians in other parts of the world have to deal with yet and when they get around to us here it isn't like the faithful body of Christ is going to shut up anyway. Be bold in your speech and make it like thunder that melts the snowflakes.

Show me church that has stood up and fought and I will attend.

I have worked my rear off sending emails writing letters to churches and speaking to pastors and all I get in return is replies like yours but no action.

The truth is that pastors are so afraid they will lose a paying member that they will not stand up and fight.

Christians are the originators of "trust the plan" but use the term "God is in control" rather than Patriots are in control.

Yes God is ultimately in control but when the people refused to act and God had to step in, there was a flood and fire and brimstone. And dont forget that God allowed his people to stay in captivity for hundreds of years.

Do we really want God to have to step in?

So many people claim to be Christians, and yet they don't understand and follow the core teachings of Jesus. Granted following the actual core teachings of Jesus is really hard, after all it gets you crucified.

But a pastor, should know better, he should at the very least preach to fight for what's right.

Matthew 5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Ask your pastor what he is willing to do to fight the evil that has taken over. I would bet he would just say pray.

Out of hundreds that Ive contacted, not one would offer anything but prayer. Not one was willing to step up and speak out. Not one was willing to lead a protest of allowing men in girls bathrooms. Not one was willing to discuss these issues in a church service...NOT ONE.

Don't stop going to church, just find a different church.

1
FudgyFudgeBots 1 point ago +1 / -0

Show me a church that has stood up and fought and I will attend it.

I havent seen one yet.

People criticize the Q people for saying trust the plan but in reality Christians are the originator of "trust the plan". They speak the same message.

Christians -God is in control

Q people - Patriots are in control

Christians- God will handle it and we dont need to do anything.

Q people-- Relax and trust the plan

Theres no difference in the message, its just worded a little differently.

Faith is the most important thing to strengthen us in these troubled times. Belief in Jesus of Nazareth will lift up even the darkest burdened soul

5
Kelcius 5 points ago +8 / -3

Faith is designed to walk through those dry and barren lands when your feet are cracking and bleeding when your lips are chapped when your throat feels like sandpaper faith is designed to stand

6
strictly1957 [S] 6 points ago +8 / -2

So beautifully stated Fren... those words touched my heart. All is made possible through faith.

6
my_pw_is_password 6 points ago +7 / -1

Not only in the troubled times! In the good times it might be even more important to find inspiration in the teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the gospels!

I've been brought up Catholic, didn't really understand it other than just parroting whatever my parents and teachers told me. Then I sort of strayed away from Jesus, when I became and adult, as did many people of my generation.

Only a few months ago, did I decide to buy a bible (King James Version) after realizing, that the only thing I know about Jesus Christ, is whatever people had told me. I became interested in the historical Jesus: Did he actually exist? Then came to understand that actually, yes, all historians agree, and the gospels themselves which were written by different followers, at different times and different geographical locations, mean that from a historians common sense perspective, a lot of what's in them (if not all) is most likely accurate. I started reading the Gospels, especially Jesus's own words (as I really don't trust anyone else at this point), I was baffled and amazed. Jesus is the meek softie people often make him out to be, he was a fucking badass, the biggest fucking badass ever. I'm in complete awe, and absolutely love Jesus. Jesus is king. I am not worthy of him, I know I never will be, if I can live my life even remotely living up to his ways and core teachings...

I can recommend anyone, ignore all the bullshit, and read the gospels, over and over, multiple times. It's the only way.

My thinking too.... the header to my post was meant as one of support for those currently struggling with depression, substance abuse and hopelessness. To tell them that it's a weight the Redeemer with carry for each and every one of them. But yes you are so right. Jesus of Nazareth, not only was and is real, he was also as you say a monumental badass. He was the very first Deplorable (of the Roman Empire) a radical who preached love and faith and was seen as a huge threat when more and more early Christians flocked to him. Faith in him is so nuanced and forever evolving there is no end to it. A gift that forever gives. Thank you for taking the time to witness to your faith. It was soul affirming.

Principles of how to live are fine but IMO, religion is designed to get power, get money, and control people. I believe in Jesus like I believe in climate change. Why do I have to be a chritian to be a conservative?

2
strictly1957 [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Respect your take and nowhere have I said that to be a Christian one must be a conservative or vice versa. Believe what you like.... its cool with me and I'm sure almost the entirety of the P.W family. Ref Climate Change, what a silly phrase it is. Used because the "Warming" in Global Warming clearly wasn't panning out, so now we have the ambiguous "Climate Change" which can't be reasoned against as ice ages attest. Climates have and always will change and did so long before industrial society existed. Me posting an iconic image of the Messiah of a billion or more Christians is affirmation of my belief and a show of brotherhood to my many faithful Frens here. I follow no church and am an old school Christian who practices the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Ad Christum Fidelis in the Latin or Viva Christo Rey in modern Spanish.

love me some Jesus. but you cant convince me he was a white guy same as you cant convince me Adam and Eve were the 1st names on planet earth.

2
krzyzowiec 2 points ago +3 / -1

Why? White people populated the area during his time. Remember that Pontius Pilate was the governer of a Roman province known as Judea. The first Christians according to the Bible were located in the ancient Greek city of Antioch. (now located in what is known as Turkey).

Do you assume he was brown because that area is largely populated by brown people now? Guess what, America could turn out to be the same eventually.

Edit: I'll assume the downvote means this idea upsets you.

2
Cacciali_Via 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is correct. Many of the early Greeks were blond. After hundreds of years of foreign occupation they took on the darker skin of the invaders. We know this due to the artwork they left to us.

There are also ancient Egyptian mummies with blind hair.

1
anon09 1 point ago +1 / -0

just because there were christians in the desert doesn't make them white (I didn't downvote you btw, I'm getting brigaded as well. usually happens in these discussions) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandaeism

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

I didn't say that they were white because they were Christian. My point is that whites populated much of the Middle East and North Africa back in the day. The Greeks are obviously white, and were even whiter before they were raped repeatedly by invading forces. As I said, Pontius Pilate was the Roman governer of that region at the time of Christ. Roman, as in from Rome or modern day Italy. The Romans were obviously white also. Both the Romans and the Greeks were eventually chased out of that region by the Turks.

I'm not saying Jesus was absolutely white, nobody knows really. I just find it ridiculous that people dismiss it out of hand. Why? I assume it's just because they look at people from the region, see they are brown, and assume it was always the case. I don't need to tell you how silly that is.

2
anon09 2 points ago +2 / -0

yeah, I don't really care about what color any of them were, and its usually an indicator you're just arguing with an atheist or agitator of some kind. just wanted to point out there was a big group of christians in baghdad that have been there basically forever, they worship john the baptist though, and have since mostly all been either scattered around the world or killed.

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh yeah I'm aware. Read a sad story about what their Muslim neighbors did to them when ISIS rolled into town. Really it is terrible what has happened to Christians in the area. I think it is sad how they have been abandoned.

I agree, his race doesn't matter to me either. I just don't like the historical ignorance. Do people not know about Carthage any longer? Where that is? Europeans didn't just colonize the Americas, they were all over the place. There were major wars fought over those areas, and then some ignorant guy comes along and implies that whites were never there? It's shamefully bad schooling.

2
anon09 2 points ago +2 / -0

lol well wasn't seth or abel or one of those kids born a ginger or something? people didn't evolve into being white either, we've been around forever.

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah that's what I mean. It's like people think we popped into existence later or something, or had no meaningful history before medieval Europe. I was hoping he would respond so I can see where the ignorance is coming from, but oh well.

1
strictly1957 [S] 1 point ago +3 / -2

Glad to hear it... I imagine Christ Jesus looked like most Hebrews, kind of swarthy but without the darkness of other neighbours in Arabia. Ref Adam and Eve, to me its more of a parable than anything else. You dig the Nazarene (automatically a Fren to me man!)

2
kornesque 2 points ago +3 / -1

Got to be careful wandering around Scripture. Either it's God's word or it's not. It was not given as a parable.

3
strictly1957 [S] 3 points ago +4 / -1

Sometimes we have to be mindful of those new in faith, I was doing that. I hope you can understand my motives were faithful. Often it is just a kind word that can begin a journey into faith. Well that is my belief.

2
canigetawutwut 2 points ago +3 / -1

agreed. God Bless. God help us all

1
Datamancer 1 point ago +3 / -2

Actually, I was kind of amazed when I first started in Catechism. It was made very clear that, from a Catholic perspective, the teaching on 'made in God's image' was that man has a will and an intellect and that was it. God brought order out of chaos. Everything else relating to the beginning of the Earth and Mankind is really not considered all that important in Catholicism.

-1
anon09 -1 points ago +1 / -2

You act like that stuff is a secret. John the baptist was known as 'Yahia-Yohanna' to the Mandaeists, who were also known as the Christians of saint John. A little group out in the desert near Baghdad, who all got either scattered or killed after the 2003 invasion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandaeism

edit: lol why the downvotes? so confused
