Actually, I was kind of amazed when I first started in Catechism. It was made very clear that, from a Catholic perspective, the teaching on 'made in God's image' was that man has a will and an intellect and that was it. God brought order out of chaos. Everything else relating to the beginning of the Earth and Mankind is really not considered all that important in Catholicism.
