I'm sitting outside a very comfy coffee shop in a big California University town (OpSec : not giving exact location) and am eavesdropping on a conversation between a TA and a student putting together the elements for a complex stats survey. The variables they are working on inputting are specifically asking how Spanish speakers are treated poorly. Not IF they are, but assuming they ALWAYS are.

Basically, the "researchers" are taking a pre-supposed answer and are molding questions to "prove" it. Disgusting!

Guaranteed this horseshit will show up as gospel in some academic journal.

Yeah it's all bullshit, copy and paste change the words of someone who came before or use bs multivariate regression when possible which is absolute bullshit. I really believe that. I studied it. I could be smarter, but I really feel it is a crock of shit.

Third level research is like advanced Chinese whispers at times.

You and me both.

My degree advisor was brought up in commmunist Hungary and really made sure we all knew what we were looking at when we saw it, especially when it came to party line academic fuckery (she hated communists!). She would've hit the ceiling listening in on what is going on now.
