Natural sugar aka fructose and glucose is very bad for people as it spikes bloodsugar which leads to insulin-spikes that in turn leads to inflammation.
A lot of it depends on how you consume said sugar. Eat an apple? There's not that much sugar in a single apple, and the insulin doesn't spike much, because the fiber moderates it. Drink a glass of apple juice? Now you're getting the distilled sugar of a bunch of apples without the fiber. You may as well be drinking soda.
