If you want a really simple breakdown of what a decent diet would look like, you’d do something like a 40/30/30 split, meaning you get 40% of your calories from protein, 30% from carbs, 30% from fat. As little sugar as you possibly can.

People will rightly debate whether or not this is “correct” - I have no idea what’s going to work best for you - but I guarantee it’s a far better starting point than whatever super high carb diet the food pyramid bullshit would have you on.

If you want to learn about what to eat and not just the amounts, check out John Meadows on youtube. He’s a bodybuilder, so a lot of his content might be irrelevant to you, but he’s an absolute genius when it comes to food. Whether or not you’re looking to get huge and shredded, his knowledge of food is immense.
