I think that we need to preface this, by stating that we had Vietnam won. We completely halted Viet Cong advancement, and begun withdrawing troops. So, while they did win out, in the end, it was more than a tactical guerilla victory.
Another mistake, that we made, that I believe the liberals would also make, was that we focused our efforts on taking out soldiers, instead of taking land. The Viet Cong certainly made it difficult, with their traps and tunnels, but they were dependent on unforced errors, on our part.
What about people wearing flip flops and robes? They defeated, or stalemated, the British, Russian and American Empires and are ungovernable to this day. At least half of the military would defect along with most police outside of blue cities. It takes hundreds of man hours and cooperation of multiple agencies to solve many serious crimes. That is one crime committed one time by a single or small group of people. If even just tens of thousands of people were committing attacks against infrastructure at the same time it would be impossible to stop. This country is enormous, geographically and population wise, compared to the other countries we fought guerrilla warfare against, and lost every time.
Absolutely. Taliban have done it for decades and that is against a military willing to go full war with them. Due to American civilians and infrastructure it would be harder for them to go to war against us while keeping public support.
