As a non Latin, I prefer the term Latin to LatinX. I am old enough to remember when it was politically correct to call them Latins. I remember some even argued "no Latin is a language, you can't call them that!" but it was settled, they were "Latins" for decades.
In my experience, what Latinos y Latinas (aka Hispanics) resent is being lumped all together in one big group.
Cubans don't like their food & culture wearing the same "Hispanic" label as Mexicans.
Argentinians don't want to be lumped in (especially not racially) with Hondurans.
Brazilians don't even speak the same language as the rest of them.
It would make as much sense to create a racial designation for Canadians, French Canadians, Americans, Hatians, and Mexicans, and call them "Nortes" (since they are all norteamericanos).
I’ve spent a lot of time in various Spanish-speaking countries, in North and South America. The only people who I have heard say “Latinx” are white liberal women. Of course, only a white person can save the browns’ unsophisticated, barbaric language. It’s almost as if they believe that the language of white people is superior...
And those are the ignoramuses. Most Hispanics know that "Latinx" is a variation of "Latino," and it applies to people descended from countries in LATIN AMERICA (South America and Central America), and not MEXICO. Truthfully, "Hispanic" is the most accurate term to indicate people descended from ancestors from Spain (Hispania)...which would include South Americans, Central Americans, and Mexicans.
True, I hang out with a lot of Latino people from Chili, Colombia, Peru,.. dancing Salsa and Bachata with them. None of them are from Mexico, and Mexico is North America for them, for away and different. A lot of people in general are very ignorant about Latin America.

I think its spelled "self-righteous white women".
Two men shown behind the desk in the picture and we still get the blame, smh. Take responsibility for your soy boys.
Nah. I don't see the letter "J" in the phrase "self-righteous white women".
The irony of white liberals telling Hispanics to change their language to appease the white liberals.
Reverse cultural appropriation!!!!
It is literally an insult to the language, which as a result is an insult to the people who speak it.
Latino here. Fluent in Spanish and English.
Latinx is faggotry. There are Latinos and Latinas. The rest are mentally ill homosexuals.

I always just call them latinos regardless of gender. None have corrected me yet.
Thats because that's the word for it.....

Yes this is one of the most extreme examples of academic elitists trying to force stuff on people who don’t want it.

They are called latinos because they speak a latin language yes?
Because real latino's ruled the south of america aka the spaniards and portugese?
Not because they are latin.
Otherwise south americans are and should be called native americans no different than the cherokee?
Good. Latinx is not a real word
Shut up minority, were here to speak for you.
Say WHAT?
You mean virtue signaling wankers?
And you're surprised that nobody gives a shit what they say?
Latinos are not stupid.
