In my experience, what Latinos y Latinas (aka Hispanics) resent is being lumped all together in one big group.
Cubans don't like their food & culture wearing the same "Hispanic" label as Mexicans.
Argentinians don't want to be lumped in (especially not racially) with Hondurans.
Brazilians don't even speak the same language as the rest of them.
It would make as much sense to create a racial designation for Canadians, French Canadians, Americans, Hatians, and Mexicans, and call them "Nortes" (since they are all norteamericanos).
