I remember when hurricane Katrina was bearing down on New Orleans. I can't remember if it was the state, or the feds, but they offered school busses to evacuate the lower income neighborhoods (areas where people are less likely to own cars). The mayor rejected the offer, as he insisted on more luxurious coach busses. And of course, when thousands did drown as a result of the flooding, the mayor blamed it all on the inaction of the federal government. They say history don't repeat, but it sure does rhyme.
