Downvotes don't do anything but viewing the video does. Comments are worth more than views btw. Even negative ones.

It's odd how YT seems to ignore up votes and down votes, both on its choice of popular submissions, and the comments they get.

How would someone think he IS popular when there as as little as 100 upvotes? If I saw a video of something I like ,that had more downvotes ,I would upvote it so it doesn’t show ...... that’s kind of the fucking point

Onto your question: They can track everything, including which people/groups of accounts downvote what. Every click on the internet is tracked, no matter what you do. Private browsing is for local client only, not server-side. Next, and more relevant to the question: Leftists who watch this site see people saying “go downvote” on everything THAT devalues downvotes in their eyes so that when they see downvotes on a Biden video, for example, they will simply assume it is “those crazy republicans” in their minds & not notice that he truly is that unpopular. It is also simply dishonest. We talk about rigged votes & that is exactly what this is: Rigging a vote.
