Why would you not want to look good for your significant other? That’s a normal part of a relationship and it shows you care and are putting in some kind of effort.
I'm familiar with Malden. They are conservative church going folk. The pastor was out of line. I wouldn't call Malden or General Baptists "woke" by any stretch of the imagination. This guy wasn't the main pastor and is obviously going to get booted.
