Add term limits, and clarify that " public service" means you don't get a blank check for life. A representative of a community should not be making 100x the income of the people they represent. That income gap means they no longer represent the same people. If the federal median income is $50,000, that's what they should get. Same healthcare, retirement.

Agreed, but no retirement. Politics should not be a career; serve your term(s) and go back to your real job. Also, once out of office - no Secret Service detail, no security briefings, etc. - you're a private citizen again.
