A family member going through hard times ... is not poverty
A member of your church apt for charity ... is not poverty
Poverty is a word without meaning, it’s a concept that doesn’t exist, is a golden calf ... that you’re supposed to sacrifice to ... and atone to ... and pay tribute to ...
The best way to mitigate poverty is to do away with all social welfare legislation and re-establish the traditional household as the basis of society. Make unwedded motherhood a badge of shame again. Immigrants need to be kept out. And no more state intervention in the market, except to break up monopolies and protect domestic enterprise from foreign competition. This is just for starters.
I think you missed the point of the post
Poverty is an abstract concept that has no reflection in reality ... it’s a political tool to guilt you into voting ... it’s a false god that you must repent to ... it’s a bunch of statistics that mean nothing to anyone, except to those payed to make the number different
It doesn’t exist
You want many things ... but those things are good because they make you and those around you better ... not because they make numbers different in a spreadsheet somewhere
Of course poverty exists. It's not an abstract concept, but a real phenomenon. It can be quantified. Are you denying the existence of differences in socioeconomic status?

I have not seen the evidence that a all encompassing, powerful and real entity exists that accounts for the lives of millions of my fellow citizens and their lifestyle
People are different and they live different ... but I don’t think there’s an metaphysical entity that wills it ... or that can be persuaded by our atonement and sacrificed tax dollars.
